In-Home Services

Who are in-home services for?

  • people who need assitance in the home with basic tasks that an aide or non-medical worker can provide

What are in-home services?

  • services are typically performed by an aide, certified nursing assistant, or other unlicensed assistive personnel
  • services are elective and do not require a physician order
  • services can include:

                - meal preparation

                - light housekeeping

                - companionship

                - transportation

                - bathing and hygiene

                - personal care

                - help with other daily activities

  • usually paid for out-of-pocket at an hourly rate - the average rate in FL is $28/hr (Samuels, 2024)

When should in-home services be considered for care?

  • when someone lives at home and there's a need for additional assistance with activities of daily living
  • when skilled nursing or licensed personnel are not needed

*there is some overlap between home health care and in-home services - some companies may offer both, some may offer only one
